PUBLIC COMMENT PERIOD

The FY 2024 Action Plan, developed in accordance with Ocean County’s adopted Citizen Participation Plan, encourages citizen participation during the planning process. Individual municipal meetings introduce the provisions of program information and solicit public comments in development of the Action Plan. These meetings culminate in soliciting public comments through countywide public hearings on the FY 2024 Action Plan.

To ensure continuation of public participation in the development of an Action Plan, the Ocean County Planning Department website hosts the annual Action Plan and the schedule for the public hearings and meetings. Beginning Monday, March 11, 2024, the draft copy of the FY 2024 Action Plan is available in paper and digital formats for the public to review at the Ocean County Planning Department, 129 Hooper Avenue, First Floor, Toms River, NJ 08754-2191. The digital document is available on the website, https://www.planning.co.ocean.nj.us/frmCECommDev.

Notice is hereby given that the Ocean County Planning Department is scheduling a written 30-day public coment period beginning March 11, 2024 - April 10, 2024 on the draft copy of the FY 2024 Action Plan. In addition, the Ocean County Planning Department is scheduling a virtual public hearing on Tuesday, April 4, 2024 at 4:30 PM. The purpose of this hearing is to solicit the public’s comments on the draft copy of the FY 2024 Action Plan. Notice of the virtual public hearing posting is on the following web address - https://www.planning.co.ocean.nj.us/frmCECommDev.

The Planning staff will review ALL comments and respond to each commentator in a timely manner. This Action Plan will consist of all received and acceptable comments and responses. Based on this information, the Board of Commissioners will receive the FY 2024 Action Plan for their approval at their Board of Commissioners meeting scheduled for Wednesday, May 1, 2024 at 4:00 PM. The FY 2024 Action Plan submittal date is Friday, May 10, 2024 to the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development.

This schedule is contingent upon receipt of the FY 2024 federal allocations from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development. Posting of any schedule changes will appear on the Ocean County Planning Department’s website in a timely manner.

Notifications regarding the award of federal funds from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) or changes in deadlines or dates will appear on the website https://www.planning.co.ocean.nj.us/frmCECommDev.

The County of Ocean encourages participation of all its residents, especially the involvement of low- to moderate-income residents, Limited English Proficiency persons, and persons with disabilities.
